Lukwago, during the nomination exercise at the FDC offices, was flanked by his Deputy Doreen Nyanjura, Nakawa MP Michael Kabaziguruka, Kawempe South MP Munyagwa Mubarak and Kampala woman MP aspirant, Dr Stella Nyanzi among others.

According to Boniface Bamwenda the party’s Electoral Commission boss, Lukwago has fulfilled all the requirements set by the party to be their flag bearer come 2021.

At headquarters in Najjanakumbi the party opened the nomination exercise for the position of Lord Mayor calling upon those who are interested to show up for the exercise before the closing date.

Different media houses have been reporting that FDC is considering Lukwago for the party flag to oust Museveni in the presidential after their four-time flagbearer Rtd Col Dr Kizza Besigye has not confirmed that he will stand again.

The party has already postponed nominations of its presidential aspirants with the hope that Dr Besigye would pick the nomination forms.

The nomination of Lord Mayor on the party ticket, effectively ends speculation that he was set to seek the party flag for the presidency.

The FDC has set August 18 as the day for nomination of the party presidential candidate.
