Two Key Staff of the NRM Test Positive for COVID-19

Today afternoon, NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba announced on her Facebook page that two staff of the ruling party had tested positive for coronavirus.

“This morning, two of our key staff at the National Resistance Movement – NRM Party Secretariate tested positive for COVID-19 and have been admitted to the Hospital for proper care,” the post read.

She continued and said that,”We are working with the technical people and further guidance will be given in due course.
I urge everyone to stay alert, healthy and safe. Thank you.”

In Uganda, one MP tested positive for COVID-19 and a driver to the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda also tested positive for the virus.

There had been no confirmation of the two staff in the party are and what their roles are. This announcement also comes after the NRM nominated President Museveni as the party flag bearer in the upcoming 2021 General elections.

Uganda currently has 1,140 cumulative confirmed cases, 1,028 recoveries and 2 COVID-19 deaths.
