More than 15 people are trapped under the rubble after a building collapsed on Saturday night in Kansanga, Kampala.

Luke Owoyesigire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said one person had been rescued from the collapsed building.

“One person identified as Alex Kabanda has so far been rescued, but it is alleged that more than 15 people are still stuck under the rubble,” Owoyesigire said.

“Fire and rescue services are already at the scene trying to identify others that are suspected to be stuck,” he added.

The officer said investigations were also ongoing to ascertain what caused the building to collapse.
