The Democratic Republic of Congo’s health ministry says that 101 inmates have tested positive for coronavirus in the N’dolo military prison.
Only three infected inmates have been admitted to a hospital outside the facility. Six inmates are under close supervision in the prison while the rest have mild symptoms.
The authorities say three wings of the prison were disinfected on Monday.
The country has reported 682 coronavirus cases and 34 deaths.
It should be noted that N’dolo military prison is where FDC member and activist Sam Mugumya is being held.
Mugumya was arrested by the Congolese forces near the Ugandan border in October 2014
