Cindy Sanyu’s Boom Party Concert Sets New Record For Ugandan Artists

2 Mins read

The truth is that many revelers  did not think the self-proclaimed the “King herself”  singer Cinderella Sanyu alias Cindy had what it took to have a successful show at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

It’s a space that has in the past humbled both local and international artists. And for an act like Cindy, whose last concert was poorly attended one at Imperial Royale, a smaller space, people were almost right to have their scepticisms.

“When I first advertised this concert, no promoter or artiste was willing to stand with me,” she said while talking to her audience.

Cindy had done what no one, even she anticipated; she filled Lugogo Cricket Oval to the brim.

Having registered a successful and totally sold up Boom Party Music concert, vocal queen Cinderella Sanyu alias Cindy cemented the fact that she is the undisputed King of the Dance Hall with a successful Boom Party concert that went down last Friday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Once involved in a bitter feud with her fellow female act, TNS’ Sheeba Karungi as they tussled out on whom was really ruling the dance hall music genre, though she might have won the war, last Friday was another lesson for Sheebah to take home that Cindy is indeed a class above having made history as the first female local artiste to fill up the highly respected Lugogo Cricket Oval.

It was really a shocking statement that drew a lot of attention from critics and revelers allover the country when the Cindy announced her readiness of taking on her music fan base in a music concert at such a prominent venue (Logogo Cricket Oval) that was famously known to host international music acts, our own Jose Chameleone and Gravity Omutujju who always fills it up at just a low entrance fee.

The other doubts were centered on the fact whether the concert would attract huge crowds with criticism being pointed at how the songstress and her team had poorly marketed the show, with very few adverts showing on TV, newspapers, and radio apart from capitalising most her efforts of pushing the show down through the cyber space.

The cool headed song bird was not even bothering herself of the repercussions that were heading her way mention a flopped concert and how she would handle the situation of registering a low turn up at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

No wonder, Cindy only focused at thrilling her fan base with her hit songs in a live concert on 7th March 2020 as she put at bay even the threats by the Anti Pornography Committee chairperson Ms Anne kezaabu Kasimbazi of arresting her if she turned out nude for her live concert.

As early as 3:30pm on Saturday, the queues on the various gates at Lugogo Cricket Oval had started bulging as people paid Shs20k and Shs50k to access the Ordinary and VIP sections respectively and by 8pm, the place was already packed with revelers ready to watch the self-proclaimed King Herself perform.
