Museveni receives IPU delegation at Nakasero

President Yoweri Museveni has received a visiting delegation of the members of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) who paid a courtesy call on him today at State House, Nakasero.

The delegation is in Uganda on a 5-day day visit. They include Aleksandra Jerkov, a Serb legislator and member of the Committee in Human Rights of MPs; Roberto Rodriguez Valencia from the IPU Secretariat and Ali Al Aradi, MP from Bahrain.

The President and his guests discussed pertinent issues centring on their respective countries.

Mr. Museveni briefed the visitors on exceptional friendliness of Ugandans and the uniqueness of their country’s naturally endowed, abundant and unexploited natural resources.

“The people that you have met here in the country in a few days truly reflect a peaceful socio-economic and political environment that they enjoy as they earnestly strive to develop their country,” he said.

Legislator Aleksandra Jerkov commended President Museveni’s leadership and the magnitude of the economic development Uganda has realized under Mr. Museveni’s leadership.

“We have enjoyed Uganda’s hospitality,” she told the President. She noted that her country, Serbia, is growing and developing further from the time the country became an EU member. Ethnic conflicts are no longer a problem to Serbia and Europe,” she said.
