1 Mins read

Ugandan Feminist, and tweep Sheena Bageine (Username @Sheena_sheenzy) has been asked to pay UGX 2,000,000,000 in damages for allegedly accusing another tweep Carlton Douglas Kasirye (@cdk_maestro) of rape.

These allegations were made via Twitter where Sheena published a list of males who have been accused of rape. These tweets made between 2nd and 3rd January sent social media ablaze as over 10 men made it to the list and are not only facing social digress but some could also lose their jobs.

Among the accused was former Big Brother Africa housemate, Radio Presenter and TV star Denzel Mwiyeretsi among others including Carlton who has since taken legal action.

“So here we are. This thread is exposing rapists and rape apologists! Feel free to add yours in case I missed out some. I will be sharing stories and names according to the DMs I received. Some are heartbreaking but a friend can be another woman’s abuser. I hope you’re shaking,” Sheena tweeted.

“Carlton Douglas, I have seen you being beaten for gropping a chic in a bar. On that list, please don’t forget to add Carlton. He raped my sister a year ago. He calls himself CDK Maestro. My sister can’t access her phone cz she is in rehab,” Ms. Bageine tweeted this as a message from a purported victim.

Through his lawyers of Simon Tendo Kabenge Advocates (STEK Advocates), Carlton seeks a public apology from Ms. Bageine, full details of the individuals who sent the ‘damaging’ information to her and a compensation fee of UGX 2,000,000,000 in damages.

“We demand that unless you remove from publication and the defamatory threads complained of to prevent further damage to our client, produce an apology and declaration that the allegations were false, provide details of recipients of advice or comments made of this nature and make proposals for payment to us of damages of UGX 2,000,000,000,” the lawyers’ statement reads in part.

They further asked that Ms. Bageine responds to their demands with in 7 days or else face the courts of law.
