Police Bosses Order Arrest of Officers Over Negligence in Nakasongola

Three Police officers in charge of security in Nakasongola district have been arrested over the hacking to death of six people in less than a week. 

The first incident involving the killings of four people happened last Thursday in broad daylight. 

On Tuesday, the Directors of Criminal investigations and operations were in Nakasongola. The director police criminal investigation Grace Akullo and Asuman Mugenyi the director operations responded to the crime in Wabigalo village, Wabinonyi parish in Nakasongola district.

Last week on Thursday a man holding machetes hacked to death four people, two women and two children. Three days later, two men Fred Mujuni and Fred Lubga were killed in cold blood at round 10:30 pm.

The police said they had apprehended the key suspects however, residents said the style in which people are being killed is the same.

The residents also said police is patrolling on foot noting that they don’t have police patrol any vehicle.

“What they do they hire bodabodas to help them to see how they can curb criminality in the area,” one of the residents said. 

Asuman Mugenyi the director operations, said police officers at Wibagalo police were negligent because they were not around at the time of the second killing.

“As I speak now, we have arrested the o/c and his deputy because of their absence at the happening of the crime,” he said.

Police has intensified its investigation and tightened security in the area.
