The Kyadondo East member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is filled with joy after he was recognized during the Young African Leaders Summit (YALS) that took place in Accra, Ghana on over the weekend.
This was organised by the Young Politicians and Leaders Network (YPLN). YALS aims to leverage on the avenue to bring together policy makers, young entrepreneurs, business executives, professionals and start-ups, to discuss various topical issues that pertain to economic empowerment, leadership, and entrepreneurship development.
Bobi Wine was unanimously voted on Saturday as one of the continent’s most exceptional youth figures aggregating ideas into relevant themes able to shape policy in Africa.
This recognition is intended to maximise the impact of efforts at grooming these cohorts of leaders.
Early this month, the People Power pressure group head was also named among the 100 most influential people in the World.
The list dubbed, ‘Time 100 Next’ was issued by the American news magazine-Time.
Bobi wine expressed his gratitude towards the recognition and dedicated it to all the people working hard to see a better Uganda.
“Humbling recognition from the African Young Leaders’ Summit, 2019. I am grateful to all young leaders across Africa who selected me for this award. I dedicate it to all comrades and friends who sacrifice daily to see that Uganda and Africa get better. Aluta continua,” Mr Kyagulanyi noted.
The politician was described as ‘Ugandan pop star who spent his career singing about social justice.
Mr Kyagulanyi came out and declared his intention to challenge Mr Museveni in the 2021 presidential elections.
