President Museveni convened a crisis meeting following the wrangle and disagreements that erupted between leaders of National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in Kampala and the newly appointed presidential special advisor on Kampala affairs Catherine Kusasira.

According to the political analysts, the fight stem from different reasons which include the fight for power within the party, individual contribution to the party, money issues among others.

Last week Catherine Kusasira, a senior presidential advisor on Kampala affairs declined to attend the meeting which was organised by party top leaders in Kampala.

Kusasira claimed that her office is above all NRM party leaders in Kampala and therefore if they want her to attend any meeting in Kampala, she should be invited officially.

She further explained that she did not come to fight any NRM leader but her role is to take the voice of the locals to the president unfortunately some people are looking at her in a different perspective.

Her refusal to attend the meeting didn’t go well with some of the party top leaders in Kampala which led to verbal exchange of words.

However, on landing in to the ears of the head of state,he had to called for an urgent meeting aimed at solving the ongoing conflicts between his advisor Catherine Kusasira and NRM leaders in Kampala.

These leaders include Salim Uhuru, Godfrey Nyakana and Kampala Affairs minister, Beti Kamya, among others but Kusasira did not attend as she was busy with other official duties.

According to the sources within the ruling party who attended the meeting on Wednesday at the State House Entebbe, party members were urged to stop all kinds of bickering with immediate effect.

NRM leaders in Kampala were also urged to stop their quarrels and accept each other in their role of leadership and concentrate on their mobilisation work for the ruling party.

“Kusasira did not attend the meeting because she was preparing for a flight to the US for special work for the party however, the President wanted the issues addressed, that is why he called for the meeting,” the source told Ug mirror.

Uhuru who was among the people who attended the meeting said he has sacrificed a lot for the growth and development of the party interms of finance among others.

He further added that he won’t allow people who don’t understand the NRM issues in Kampala to disorganise the party.

“We cannot allow someone who is not well acquainted with the issues of Kampala to just come and try to pose as if we are not working and yet we have won immense support for the NRM all these years,” he did.
