Salt Media Journalists to be Punished For Fighting Colleagues Over Pastor Bugingo

1 Mins read

During the women protest against Pastor Bugingo, Salt Media journalists fought their colleagues in support of the arrogant, and disrespectful Pastor of House of Prayer Ministries.

The National Coordinator of the Human Rights Network for Journalists Uganda (HRNJ-U), Robert Ssempala has condemned the act of some journalists fighting their fellow colleagues while on duty.

Siraje Kiberu of Record Television, and Katongole of Bukedde are some of the journalists that were allegedly battered by the Sal media journalists.

“It’s very unfortunate, and it should never happen again. We should never hear journalists fighting one another and in this regard the journalists implicated should take personal responsibility because their actions hinge on criminality,” Ssempala said.

“No one is above the law and in this regard. Salt Media must personally be held responsible,” he added.

The president Uganda Journalist Association (UJA), Hajj Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira also condemned the act of journalists fighting one another.

“It’s really ugly and it  paints a very bad image to the country of Uganda especially as we run in the pursuit in fighting for the right of journalism fraternity in the country, “he said. He also added that such filthy acts should never happen again.

“We are sending a strong message to whoever would have participated in this, so far we have three members of the media fraternity inclusive of them, one of those people that we look at Mr Charles Ssenkubuge and Robert Mutebe,” Mbaziira added. He said they are still compiling further information for the colleagues who were affected and other witnesses.
