Practice modern farming with calculation – Museveni to Mukono, Luweero & Mpigi leaders

President Yoweri Museveni has called on all the leaders in the country to sensitise the people in their respective areas to practice modern farming with well selected enterprises that will in turn give them money to cater for their domestic financial demands.

“Practice modern farming with calculation. This is my message and the reason I called you here. NRM didn’t come for people who know much. NRM fights not for educated but specially for those who do not know how to calculate these things,” he said.

The President was today speaking at Lugogo Cricket Grounds in Kampala to the leaders from districts of Greater Luwero, Greater Mpigi and Mreater Mukono – Buikwe, Butambala, Buvuma, Gomba, Kayunga, Luweero, Mpigi, Mukono, Nakaseke and Nakasongola.

President Museveni asked the leaders and the people of Uganda at large to work for both food and income security saying that if those two are done with calculation, it will be a sure way of fighting household poverty.

He emphasized seven enterprises, such as coffee, fruits, pasture, poultry, fish farming, among others and advised wanaichi to always select enterprises that would not only get them money but also attract big  global markets.

He urged farmers to explore fish farming adding that government will support them in putting up fish ponds, especially in the peripheral areas of water bodies.

He said some enterprises such as cotton, maize, tobacco and sugarcane should only be undertaken on big scale for the people to realise financial benefits.

The leaders from all the Districts of Greater Luweero, Greater Mpigi and Greater Mukono presented their Memoranda to have President Museveni as their sole candidate come 2021 general elections and beyond.
