The government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has on Tuesday warned Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi wine that his power will be pierced slowly by slowly by the ruling government because many Ugandans think he is the one to take them to the promise land.

He said that Bobi Wine will be weakened by opposition themselves.

Opondo made the statement while on one of the local Television Stations on Tuesday 26th March, 2019 while discussing current affairs in Uganda.

Ofwono said with a manifest split within the opposition, Bobi Wine will not be able to win 2021 presidential elections even though he calls upon people to get National Identity Cards

Ofwono said it is the government that started the National Identity Card program and it welcomes all actors to help in the mobilization of people to get them and the National Identity Card cannot overwhelm president Museveni.

He further said that whether opposition comes as one, he doesn’t think their block exceeds 40% of Ugandans

“I doubt whether the opposition will come together,” he said.

He said the false feeling Ugandans are having that there is a new kid on the block and many are running there to join him, they should be well acquainted that National Resistance Movement is methodical, systematic and resilient.

Ofwono said there is no political organization in Uganda that represents qualitative meaningful of change than the ruling party, NRM.

He further added that the change Ugandans want is socioeconomic transformation and the people of Ugandan will want a solid group to go with.

“I think Bobi Wine is passing cloud, the real candidate for the opposition I am telling my party NRM to watch out in 2021 is Dr Kizza Besigye,” he stated.

He stated no one should think that Hon Bobi wine is such a powerful figure and if Bobi wine is powerful, he is going to be punctured slowly.

“I don’t think that the candidate People are running with can even get 2% in the general elections.”
