Tanzania’s Taifa Stars Thrash Uganda Cranes

Despite the Uganda Cranes’ 3-0 loss away to Tanzania in the final AFCON 2019 group L qualifier, the Cranes ended the qualification campaign top of the group with 13 points.

Saimon Happygod Msuva, Erasto Nyoni (penalty) and Aggrey Morris scored for the Taifa Stars on a low key day for the visiting side before a full packed National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

There were a senior debut for Ethiopian based defender Kirizestom Ntambi who partnered KCCA’s Timothy Awany in central defence.

Uganda also had its own share of chances created with Emmanuel Okwi attempting in the first half, before Henry Patrick Kaddu and Milton Karisa in the closing stages.

Head coach Sebastien Desabre made all the three substitutions.

Okwi paved way for Karisa, Kaddu was replaced by Edrisa Lubega and Faruku Miya came off for Raja Casablanca’s Muhammed Shaban.

Uganda remained top of the group with 13 points and Tanzania made 8 points, qualifying for AFCON finals.
