Six NRM rebel MPs Axed From Kyankwanzi Meet List

1 Mins read

National Resistance Movement Publicity Secretary, Margret Muhanga has revealed that six rebel MPs will not attend the NRM retreat scheduled for this Thursday at the National Leadership institute, Kyankwanzi.

She revealed that the eight-day caucus in Kyankwanzi will mainly focused on the country’s economy.

“You know that we don’t have rebels but we have people who disagree with each and everything that NRM puts on table, they vote with opposition, they oppose and I have seen them even supporting Rwanda against Uganda and I wondered where did patriotism go in this country?”  she asked.

She further added that they wear red berets showing they are not in support of NRM.

Some NRM rebel MPs however disagreed with Muhanga’s move.

“This is the act of dictatorship and its abrogation of the constitution of the party. We shall not take it lightly and we are going to protest and I want the world to go there even if they ban the press, I will go and they chase me from there,” Hon John Baptist Nambeshe protested

Hon Barnabas Tinkasimire said he is seriously warning those who are going there and telling Ugandans that the group that is going to Kyankwanzi, they are not only going to conspire to loot the country but also to cause the tear down of the constitution.

The caucus executive has also clarified that the meeting doesn’t not intend to discuss president Museveni’s sole candidature unless it is brought up for debate.

“It’s not part of the agenda but if some members feel like it should have been part of the agenda and us as coccus leadership forgot to put on the agenda, then somebody can raise, we debate and vote on it, we are a very democratic and transparent party,” Publicity Secretary Margret Muhanga stated.

The deputy chairperson NRM caucus Solomon Siwanyi dispelled claims that the People Power pressure group led by Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine will also be part of their discussion.

“If I don’t know it as Solomon, it does not exist because I know People Power is the Power of the People to vote, so I don’t know about it,” he stressed.
