Organizers of the controversial Miss Curvy competition have petitioned the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga saying the pageant is in good faith.

The organizers who stormed parliament on Wednesday told the speaker the competition was set to recognize the bold and beautiful plus size ladies.

Early this month, Tourism state minister, Godfrey Kiwanda launched the pageant at Mestil hotel in Kampala, drawing the ire of many especially women activists.

He however, defended the controversial pageant which he said is aimed at celebrating Uganda’s most curvaceous women.

In their petition, the organizers say the event is meant to lay a platform for the plus size ladies. The contest is also to inspire and impart confidence in plus sized ladies.

They add that Miss Curvy Uganda is not only focusing on the the size alone but also the brains. They emphasize that the contest needs to pick an intelligent plus size Ugandan ambassador.

Their petition comes two days after women activists petitioned the speaker asking her to call Kiwanda to order for they termed his derogatory remarks about women.
