MTN Uganda CEO Wim Vanhelleputte Deported

MTN Uganda CEO Wim Vanhelleputte has been deported, Ug Mirror reports.

The reason for Wim’s deportation is not clear but it must be related to previous deportations of MTN bosses who government believes tried to compromise national security.

According to the deportation order, Wim, a Belgian National, must be “deported from and remain out of Uganda indefinitely.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeje Odong ordered that; “And I further declare that this order shall be carried into effect by the removal of the said Wim Van Vanhelleputte by deportation and while awaiting to be conveyed to the place of departure shall be kept in custody.”

A few weeks ago, two top honchos were also deported.

Among the deported was Olivier Prentout was the Chief Marketing Officer and Annie Tabura served as the Manager for sales and distribution.
