Nawangwe Appoints Committee To Investigate Suspended Dr Kamunyu

Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe has instituted a five-member committee to probe the suspended Makerere University Staff Association chairperson Dr Deus Muhwezi Kamunyu.

Dr Deus Muhwezi was suspended some few weeks ago for allegedly conducting himself in a way that contravenes the terms and conditions of his employment with the university.

It is also believed that his conduct violates the employment act 2006, the Uganda public service standing order 2010, Makerere university manual 2009 and other policies governing employment with Makerere university.

According to the suspension letter Prof Barnabas claims that Dr Deus has been acting in the way that intends to cause disobedience including inciting with intention to cause strikes to undermine the university authority.

“As required by the law and the human resource manual of Makerere university, I am appointing a committee to investigate the activities and conduct of Dr Deus Kamunyu,” reads the letter

1 Prof Sarah Kiguli -chairperson

2 Janet Nabukeera – Secretariat

3 Prof Noble Banadda -member

4 Dr Moses Musinguzi-member

5 Esther Kabinga – advisor
