General Court Martial Extends Kayihura Bail

The embattled former Police Chief Gen Kale Kayihura has on Monday 7th January 2019, appeared before the General court martial in fulfilment his bail terms.

Gen Kale Kayihura appeared before the same court last year and was charged with two counts of failure to protect war materials in which it is alleged to have given guns to unauthorized people like jailed boss of Boda Boda 2010.

The other count was aiding and abetting the kidnap and repatriation of Rwandan refugees.

He was granted bail on August 28th 2018 after spending many weeks in detention.

The bail was granted on medical grounds but his movements were restricted to Kampala and Wakiso unless cleared by court and army top leadership.

Kayihura was ordered to report to court every first Monday of the month.

On Monday 7th January 2018, the Chairman of the general court martial, Gen Andrew Gutti extended Kayihura’s bail to 4th February 2019 as the case is not yet ready for trial because  probe  is still on going.
