The 21st edition of Blankets and Wine held on Sunday was largely described as a local one, because of its line-up of artists and not the revellers who come from all kinds of diverse backgrounds.
The list had names Irene Ntale, Tamba and Maleek Berry a Nigerian singer who brought a populist feel to the line-up.
Regulars to the event were used to the stage being headlined by big international acts such as Liquideep, Freshly Ground and Micasa, among others.
At the 21st edition held on Sunday 16th December at Lugogo Cricket Oval, it was still a local touch.
House of Deejays and Tusker Malt settled for world music maestro Irene Ntale, Tamba and Maleek Berry a Nigerian respectively spiced up the event.
One of the revellers we had a chat with agreed the afro-music festival feel to the event is paying off.
As different performances went on, it was clear only a few were having fan, the show-offs were drunk and tried to keep the event alive by screaming on top of their voices over nothing, the real crowd of genuine revellers was bored, they didn’t like what was happening on stage, they only jumped to a few mixes by DJ Beekay and Rachel, DJ Naselow and DJ Roja and Stuart who took the party till midnight leaving the fans yearning for more.
