Member of Parliament Mityana Municipality, Francis Zaake failed to turn up at the CID headquarters in Kibuli on Wednesday 5th December 2018.

Hon Francis Zaake was grilled on Monday for seven hours by detectives from criminal investigation departments on allegations of treason and escaping from police detention following violence that broke out during Arua municipality bye election on August.

Independent candidate Kassiano Wadri won the election while in detention.

Zaake is among 5 Members of Parliament charged with treason and they are; Hon Robert Kyagulanyi, Kassiano Wadri, Paul Mwiru, Gerald Karuhanga, Former Makindye East MP Mike Mabike and dozens of other Ugandans.

Zaake was told to report to CID headquarters in Kibuli to answer questions which include his escape from Police custody.

Zaake’s lawyer Medard Ssegonna said his client had a bad night and couldn’t make it

“We heard rumours that our client Hon Francis Zaake is to be detained from Kibuli after interrogation but he is not in good health,” Ssegonna said that as long as Zaake is in good health, he is ready to face any charge.

“He is on bond and needs to respond to that bond, so nothing to worry’ Zaake and other 32 people are still battling with treason charges before Gulu chief magistrate Court.”
