President Museveni has received and met with a Japanese delegation from Tateshina Town who called on him yesterday at State House, Entebbe.

The President thanked the delegation for accepting to host the Ugandan athletes who are going to take part in the 2020 Olympics due in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.

Following the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Japan and the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports, Ugandan athletes for the 2020 Olympic Games will be able to arrive earlier in Tateshina Town to do more training in preparation for the Olympics.

“I am very happy to know that an agreement has been reached. Some times, they take these athletes too late. But now they will arrive early and go to a high altitude place to train,” the President told the delegation.

Mr. Museveni noted that the arrangement is a sign of good cooperation between Japan and Uganda.

Tateshina Town, with a population of slightly over 7,000, is located in the Japanese Chubu Region.
