Museveni commends Bebe Cool’s Good Heart

2 Mins read

President Yoweri Museveni has commended young musicians in Uganda for their innovativeness and promotion of the music industry especially through modifying and blending the traditional tunes using modern instruments to capture big audiences.

He expressed support to the youth’s effort in the revival of the music industry.

“I am pleased to see my grandchildren enjoying peacefully without interruption. This is what we have reaped from peaceful governance of NRM since its inception in 1986. The music innovation, through its creativity and vigour can also be marketed beyond boundaries,” said.

The President was speaking at a music concert organized by Mr. Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool a local musician at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.

The occasion that ran under the theme ‘Golden Heart Music Concert’ was staged to ensure quick medical facilitation to victims of acute cardiac complications in the country, conditions that are said to be on the rise in Uganda.

The President commended singers and artistes in the country for utilizing the peace dividend, that was ushered in by the NRM Government, to develop their talents.

“I congratulate you singers and artistes for taking the advantage and enjoying peace we have in the country and developing your talents. If you are in a country like Somalia you cannot have this,” he noted; adding that one cannot reap what one has not sown. He said that the discipline in the armed forces in the country has enabled Uganda to harvest peace.

The President said that the recent spate of crime in towns has been resolved adding that urban crime was not a big challenge compared to the wars that the country had had in the past and which were addressed and resolved by NRM.

As he warned anyone nursing inclinations to disturb Uganda’s peace, the President said that much as he also wishes young Ugandans to celebrate the peaceful environment the country has, he at the same time cautioned them against contracting the deadly HIV/AIDS pandemic.

I don’t want anybody to interfere with Ugandans’ peace. I want my grandchildren to enjoy ‘Bikeesa’ – overnight clubs. However, celebrate with caution and guard yourselves against the deadly killer scourge, the HIV/AIDS scourge,” he said.

The President informed his audience that the main characteristic of a freedom fighter is endurance. He, at this juncture, asked the concert organizers modify his most liked tune during the protracted armed people’s bush struggle in the 1980s that runs as ‘Kino kye ekiseera kyetulina okulwaana; mubiseera eby’omumaso tufune emirembe’ (this is the time to fight so as to be peaceful in the future).

Mr. Moses Ssali reported that they dedicated most of most of the concert numbers to President Museveni to reciprocate the peace, joy and freedom that the people of Uganda, especially the youth, are basking in
