PHOTOS: Bobi Wine Takes Over Bugiri

1 Mins read

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Hon Ssentamu Robert Kyagulanyi is famously known by his stage name, Bobi Wine has attracted a mammoth crowd outside his hotel room.

“Outside my hotel room in #BUGIRI now. #PeoplePower,” Bobi Wine captioned the pictures he posted on his Facebook page.

Bobi Wine however said that police and other security officials have arrested over 16 people on their campaigning team.

It should be noted that Bobi Wine is supporting Asuman Basalilwa in this hotly contested Bugiri Municipality race.

“So the security forces looked for me up to 5:30am this morning and failed to find me but arrested 16 of our team members and drove them to an unknown place.

“The arrested comrades include; Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro (Deputy spokesman DP), Tumuhairwe Denis, Ssenyonjo Sheriff (my personal assistant), Lukwago Ramadhan, Kim XP (the videographer), Tabs Ku Camera, Counsel Ukasha Ssekajja, Ssenyange Joseph, Katongole Julius, Njuba (My driver), Roy Ssemboga(former MAK Guild President), Andrew Natumanya, Sulaiman Kakooza, Kiwanuka Keneth (my sound man), plus two ladies whose names are still unknown to me.

“We demand for their unconditional release because they did not commit any crime!

“We are being told that since President Museveni is campaigning in Bugiri today, they wanted to arrest me and the team so as to ensure he finds a smooth ground.

“This is very wrong and unfortunate. This is our country! We’re in a political contest, not in a military contest.

“All of us should be left to campaign for our respective candidates so that the people decide for themselves who to vote.

“The NRM more than anyone else should remember that intimidation of this kind has been used throughout history but it never wins in the end.

Therefore, we shall not allow to be intimidated. We shall proceed with today’s rally as planned.”
