Comedian Charles Kasozi who is famously known as Mariachi is full of beans after his wife, Mirembe Lydia promised to take good care of her upon his release from jail where he spent two days.
“Mariachi is a good man, he cannot fight anyone. I am happy he has not been sent to Luzira. I will take good care of him, give him love like never before,” said Mariachi’s wife before adding that; “I will really treat him like a man to welcome him home.”
Mariachi was yesterday given bond after he was arrested over the weekend for assaulting a traffic officer.
This website understands that over the weekend, Mariachi together with his bodyguard Michael Bunjo were arrested by police for allegedly assaulting a traffic officer, tearing his uniform.
Kasozi and his accomplice committed the offence on 30th June 2018 at 8pm in Mengo.
They assaulted PC. Eldard Kamugisha a police officer attached to Old Kampala Police Station Traffic Department by hitting him with elbow on the face while performing his lawful duties.
The suspect who was driving a vehicle registration number UAZ 127T on a one way was stopped, questioned and cautioned regarding the offence he had committed.
Despite the stagnant jam caused, the unapologetic driver refused to heed to the traffic officers directives of reversing and using the right lane.
Upon insisting on using one way, the officer requested to have a look at the vehicle particulars and driving permit however Kasozi instead came out of his vehicle, verbally insulted, assaulted and wilfully tore the uniform of the officer.
The officer was rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital for medical attention.
“I pay tax that pays your salary and just one single phone call can get you dismissed from the force. Get the hell out of my way I have a show to attend to in Masaka,” he insulted the officer.
Mariachi was then taken to Old Kampala Police Station.
