Uganda’s Consul-General in Guangzhou, Amb. Solomon Rutega has invited Chinese businesses to take up investment opportunities in Uganda’s key sectors, of commercial agriculture; agro-processing; energy; oil and gas; ICT, mining and mineral beneficiation and tourism.
The Consul General was speaking to over eighty (80) representatives of business executives in Huizhou City (One of the 21 Cities of China’s Guangdong Province), at an Investment Conference jointly organised by the Uganda Consulate in Guangzhou and the China Chamber for the Promotion of International Trade (Huizhou Bureau) on 15th June, 2018.
The Consul General particularly highlighted opportunities in the agricultural sector, with emphasis on production of high quality feeds to support Uganda’s aquaculture (tilapia farming); as well as investment in solar panels and agricultural solar-powered irrigation systems.
While in Huizhou, the Consul-General also held a meeting with the City’s Vice Mayor, Mr. Yu Jinfu. Following the Consul-General’s briefing on the successful Investment Conference, the Vice Mayor undertook to give the Consulate all necessary support and cooperation to enhance trade and investment between Uganda and Huizhou City.
To start with, he will lead a business delegation to Uganda in August 2018 to explore existing opportunities and establish business-to-business contacts.
The Investment Conference was also attended and addressed by Mr. Hou Jianxiong, Chairman of the Uganda-Guangdong Chamber of Commerce. He shared his perspectives and experiences of doing business in Uganda.
