Ecobank Donates to Fasting Muslims

1 Mins read

The Holy month of Ramadan seems to bring out the best during the fasting period.

Ecobank Uganda just proved how generous they can be when they donated to the fasting Muslim community of Gaba Mosque.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, Ecobank Uganda donated Shs10m in cash and consumable items to the fasting Muslims on Friday 25th May 2018.

According to sources, the donation was delivered to Gaba Mosque by Head of Consumer Banking Nuhu Kanyike and head of Marketing & Communications Primrose Kobusingye and received by Ssali Muhammad, the Chairman of the Gaba-Bunga Muslim community.

After handing over the donation, Nuhu Kanyike and Primrose Kobusinye joined the Muslims for the Juma prayers attended by among others, Professor Abdu Katerega.

A source further reveals that the cash and items were shared amongst other Mosques affiliated to Gaba Mosque including four in Kyagwe, three in Iganga and one in Nsangi.

The Muslims were so grateful and thanked Ecobank Uganda for the generous gesture towards their faith and prayed for continued prosperity of the banking institution.

It has since emerged that the donation was lobbied by celebrated Events organizer, Suudi Lukwago who is also the founder of Gaba Mosque.

It should be noted that Suudi inherited the mosque from his father. Suudi thanked Ecobank for the donation considering the fact that he had approached prominent Muslim-leaning banks in vain.

“I want to specifically recognize some institutions and individuals who have made it worthwhile for the Muslim brotherhood. On Friday at Gaba Mosque, we were pleasantly surprised with a donation of Shs10m from Ecobank. I just walked there once and they responded. This happened after some Islamic leaning banks and institutions turned me away. Ecobank is our friend please bank with the” a thankful Suudi is quoted to have said.
