Former Buyende district DPC Mohammad Kirumira has been demoted from Assistant Superintendent of Police to Inspector of Police by the Police disciplinary committee.
The committee based their decision on the fact that While still at Nansana police post, Kirumira committed crimes like neglect of duty contrary to Section 44(1) Code 19, corruption practices contrary to Section 44(1) Code 23(a) and irregular conduct contrary to Section 44(1) Code 12 of the Police Act.
The long awaited judgement comes after several postponements by the tribunal due to unexplained reasons.
It should be remembered that earlier in the day, there was a scuffle at Police Court in Naguru after journalists were stopped from covering the judgement.
Kirumira says he is not satisfied with the ruling and he will appeal.
