1 Mins read

President Yoweri Museveni has laid a foundation for the construction of an estimated Shs.350 million maternity ward at Koboko General Hospital in Koboko Municipality. The medical facility is expected to cater for Koboko District community as well as the Kakwa people in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Sudan.

In a separate ceremony he also laid a foundation for the proposed Shs.3.6 billion St. Paul Church in the same Municipality. The President made a contribution of Shs.500 million towards the church. The church project is tailored to commemorate the life of the late Most Rev. Silvanus Wani, first Archbishop of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Boga Zaire.

President Museveni commended the people of the area, especially the business community for their financial generosity towards the construction of the church project.

Addressing himself to issues of development, President Museveni informed the people of the area that the NRM Government has played its role of establishing the infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and ensured security, peace and fought against sectarianism.

He, therefore, appealed to wananchi to note that they should reciprocate the Government’s development programmes by chasing poverty away from their homes through operationalizing the 4-acre production strategy.

During the service that preceded the fundraising, Bishop Charles Collins Andaku of Madi-West Nile Diocese thanked President Museveni for supporting the development programmes of churches.

“We pray that you lead the country to where God wants to lead it,” he said.

State Minister for Investment and Privatization and area MP, Hon. Anite Evelyn observed that as people who live on the border, they are pro Pan Africanism as they work to live peacefully with people of neighbouring DRC and South Sudan
