The Pepper Publications under Siege

Uganda Police led by Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander CP Frank Mwesigwa have put The Pepper Publications Offices in Namanve under siege over a recently published story.

A search warrant was issued, all workers were instructed to stop publication and handover their gadgets that include phones, Laptops and Ipads. The premises have been declared a Crime scene.

Below is the full Search Warrant

IN THE CHIEF MAGISTRATE’S COURT OF

KAMPALA AT BUGANDA ROAD

TO: DIAIP WALYA HENRY PETER

WHEREAS it has been proved to me that in fact or according to reasonable suspicion the following thing/things:

– To be searched include, Laptops, Desk tops, CPU’s, computer  accessories (electronics) and any other document related to Red  paper news publication Vol. 17 no. 152 of Monday 20, November,  2017.

UPON by in respect of which an offence has been committed or which is/are  necessary for the conduct of an investigations into an offence/s/are in the  building, vessel, carriage box receptacle, place here in named and  described as follows;

– Red pepper publication offices

This is to authorize and require you to enter. Open the said building, vessel,  carriage, box receptacle, place and search for such thing/things described  as aforesaid and if found seize and carry it/them before this court or some other court to be dealt with according to law, returning this warrant with  an endorsement certifying that you have it immediately upon its execution.
