A building under construction at Pastor Ronnie Makabai’s Holy City Entebbe Church in Kawuku, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District, collapsed on Monday, October 26, 2026, triggering a search-and-rescue operation amid fears that dozens of people were trapped beneath the rubble.
According to a report by Daily Monitor, more than four dozen people were feared trapped following the collapse, while at least 10 people had been rescued by the time of the newspaper’s latest update. The injured were taken to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital and Kisubi Hospital for treatment.
Police and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) personnel were deployed to the scene as rescue teams worked to locate and evacuate people who might still have been trapped inside the collapsed structure.
Building Was Under Construction
The collapsed structure was reportedly under construction at the time of the incident. The cause of the collapse had not been established by Monday evening, with preliminary investigations underway. Authorities had also not confirmed the final number of casualties or the number of people who might still have been trapped.
The incident occurred at Holy City Entebbe, a church ministry led by Ronnie Makabai, popularly known as Brother Ronnie.
According to the ministry’s official website, Holy City Entebbe was established in May 2017 under Makabai’s leadership. The church is located along the Entebbe Road corridor in Kawuku, Bwerenga, and is known for hosting large congregations and religious gatherings.
Rescue Operation Underway
The deployment of police and military personnel points to a major emergency response as rescuers worked to reach people who may have remained beneath the debris.
