The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Monday held talks with His Excellency Matthias Schauer, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uganda, in a meeting aimed at reinforcing the long-standing relations between the two countries.
The engagement, held at the Special Forces Command headquarters, reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between the Republic of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Germany. Discussions focused on a broad range of shared interests and explored opportunities to further strengthen the growing partnership between Kampala and Berlin.
Both officials held constructive and forward-looking talks on expanding cooperation in several sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to deepening collaboration. The meeting followed Ambassador Schauer’s earlier engagement with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, underscoring the continuity and high-level nature of Uganda–Germany relations.
General Kainerugaba and Ambassador Schauer also reflected on the historical foundations of the partnership, which has been built on diplomacy, development cooperation, and mutual respect. They emphasized the importance of building on these achievements while identifying new areas for joint engagement.
Ambassador Schauer commended Uganda for its active role in regional affairs and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening its partnership with Uganda. He noted the potential for expanded cooperation across various fields, while both sides agreed that any differences should be addressed through continued dialogue and mutual understanding.
The meeting highlighted the shared resolve of both countries to not only preserve but also enhance the strong and productive relationship that continues to define Uganda–Germany relations.
