The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the collection of Nomination Forms, Supporter Forms, and Guidelines for the 2026 Presidential Elections is ongoing, running from Monday, 11th August to Wednesday, 24th September 2025. The forms are available on weekdays, between 8:00am and 5:00pm, at the EC Head Offices in Kampala.
In a statement, the EC clarified that picking nomination forms does not automatically make an aspirant a presidential candidate. “It is simply an expression of interest,” the Commission noted.
Under the Presidential Elections Act, an aspirant becomes a candidate only after submitting a list of at least 100 supporters from two-thirds of Uganda’s districts — translating into 98 districts and a minimum of 9,800 supporters nationwide. Each supporter must be a registered voter from the district they claim to represent, and the EC will verify all entries before approval.
Beyond meeting the supporter requirement, an aspirant must also pay a non-refundable nomination fee of Shs 20 million and present proof of minimum academic qualifications of not less than the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (A’ Level or Senior Six).
The EC urged interested individuals to adhere strictly to the set timelines and requirements, warning that only those who meet all legal conditions will proceed to the nomination stage.
