The nomination took place at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters on Plot 13, Kyadondo Road in Kampala. It was presided over by the Commission Chairperson, in the presence of all commissioners and the NRM Secretary General, Rt Hon. Richard Todwong. The event affirmed Alupo’s continued relevance and influence within the party’s top leadership structures.
Her nomination sets the stage for a closely watched primary race, positioning her among the front-runners based on her political experience and service record.
Alupo Pledges Continued Service
Following her nomination, Vice President Alupo expressed gratitude to the NRM leadership for the endorsement and reaffirmed her commitment to serve the people of Katakwi with focus and integrity.
“I am humbled by the nomination and remain committed to transforming the lives of our people. I will continue implementing the NRM vision and manifesto to ensure inclusive development,” she said.
Alupo also outlined key priorities from her 2026–2031 manifesto, including plans to establish a technical institute in Toroma County, construct a super-specialized hospital in Katakwi, and extend electricity and clean water to underserved areas. Additional focus areas include improvements in agriculture, education, youth empowerment, and health service delivery.
A Seasoned Leader with a Development Agenda
Currently serving as Uganda’s Vice President, Alupo brings a wealth of experience in public service and legislative leadership. Her nomination reflects the NRM’s confidence in her ability to deliver on key development targets and support national priorities.
As the 2026 NRM primaries approach, Alupo’s campaign is expected to center on her track record and alignment with the party’s broader socio-economic transformation agenda.
