1 Mins read

The Electoral Commission (EC) is today hosting a National Stakeholders’ Workshop at Hotel Africana, Kampala, to prepare for the upcoming elections of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Committees as part of the 2025/2026 General Elections Roadmap.

The workshop brings together key players in the electoral process, including political parties, civil society organizations (CSOs), the media, security agencies, and representatives of Youth, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Older Persons.

The interactive session is aimed at promoting dialogue, sharing updates on the election roadmap, and reinforcing the roles of each stakeholder in ensuring inclusive and credible SIGs elections.

Special Interest Groups elections are a crucial part of Uganda’s democratic system, providing a platform for the representation of historically marginalized communities. The Electoral Commission emphasized its commitment to a transparent and participatory electoral process as preparations for the general elections intensify.

Today’s workshop is one of several initiatives the Commission is undertaking to build stakeholder confidence and enhance public trust in the integrity of the 2025/2026 elections.
