The Ministry of Health has convened a high-level Town Hall meeting with leaders from Ankole and Kigezi sub-regions in a renewed push to strengthen health service delivery across southwestern Uganda.
Dr. Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, led the dialogue, which brought together religious leaders, cultural figures, and district officials to explore solutions for pressing healthcare challenges in the region.
“This meeting was aimed at advancing health service delivery for our communities,” Dr. Atwine said in a statement on Wednesday. “It served as a strong reminder of the power of local leadership in driving public health progress.”
Held under the theme of inclusive and responsive health systems, the forum also featured a live public Q&A session that saw active participation from community members. Dr. Atwine described the engagement as “invaluable,” noting that it allowed citizens to voice their concerns directly to policymakers and health administrators.
The Ministry says feedback gathered from the event will help inform the refinement and implementation of ongoing and future health interventions tailored to the needs of the region.
“I sincerely thank all who attended. Your contributions are going to help shape a more responsive and inclusive health system,” she added.
The event is part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts under the #MOHatWork campaign to deepen grassroots involvement in health sector reforms and strengthen the delivery of public health services across Uganda.
