Mpuuga Launches New Political Party, the Democratic Front

1 Mins read

Former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga has announced the formation of a new political party named the Democratic Front (DF), positioning it as a force for renewal and ethical leadership in Uganda’s political space.

In a statement, Mpuuga said the party is “deliberate in bringing freshness to Uganda’s political landscape” and seeks to respond to what he called a national need for “meaningful transformation” beyond what he described as the “tired cycle of recycled ideologies.”

“The Democratic Front comes not as a disruption, but as a necessity born of the failures of the status quo,” Mpuuga said, branding the party as a home for “logical thinkers, progressive minds, and those who believe in political ethics and disciplined service delivery.”

The unveiling of DF is expected to reshape opposition dynamics in Uganda, though Mpuuga has not yet detailed its leadership structure or registration status with the Electoral Commission.

The announcement was shared under the hashtag #RealChangeActNow, signaling an early effort to mobilize public attention and support for the new political formation.
