Musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has thrown his weight behind an ambitious plan by Inspire Africa Group to grow Uganda’s coffee industry from a $1 billion to a $5 billion economy within five years.
Speaking after a guided tour of the newly established Africa Coffee Park in Rwashamaire, Ntungamo District, Bebe Cool commended the initiative as a game-changer for the country’s agricultural transformation. The tour comes just days ahead of the much-anticipated Coffee Marathon slated for this Saturday.
“Inspire Africa Group’s vision to revolutionize Uganda’s coffee sector is not just exciting—it’s strategic,” Ssali said. “The group is embracing technology and boosting local consumption to increase the value of Ugandan coffee.”
The Africa Coffee Park, spearheaded by Inspire Africa, is part of a broader effort to modernize coffee processing and promotion in Uganda. The initiative aligns with the government’s drive to add value to agricultural exports and increase earnings.
Uganda is Africa’s largest exporter of coffee and the second-largest producer on the continent after Ethiopia. However, the country earns only a fraction of the global coffee market value due to low levels of processing and local consumption.
Bebe Cool urged Ugandans to support the Coffee Marathon and similar initiatives aimed at scaling up the sector. “Let’s support this initiative and watch our coffee sector thrive,” he added.
The Coffee Marathon is expected to bring together coffee stakeholders, farmers, and consumers to raise awareness about the role of innovation and value addition in transforming Uganda’s coffee economy.
