The National Unity Platform (NUP) has received a significant boost after seven Members of Parliament officially joined the party, signaling growing support for opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.
Kyagulanyi made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, welcoming the lawmakers into what he described as “home.”
The new members include Luttamaguzi Ssemakula Paulson Kasana (Nakaseke South County), Joan Namutaawe (Woman MP, Masaka District), Nsanja Patrick Kayongo (Ntenjeru South), Nantongo Fortunate (Woman MP, Kyotera District), Lukwago John Paul Mpalanyi (Kyotera County), Batuwa Timothy Lusala (Jinja Municipality West), and Isabirye David Aga (Jinja North Division).
“We have been very honored to welcome into the National Unity Platform… our Honourable comrades,” Kyagulanyi said in a statement. He also used the opportunity to reiterate his party’s mission of ending what he described as a dictatorship in Uganda, stating, “#WeAreRemovingADictator.”
The move is expected to reshape political dynamics ahead of the 2026 general elections, with NUP solidifying its influence across key constituencies.
