Musasizi Declares Bid for Rubanda NRM Chairmanship Amid Party Turmoil”

1 Mins read

State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi has declared his intention to contest for the position of NRM District Chairperson for Rubanda, promising equal representation and unity amid fallout from the controversial LC1 elections.

Speaking in the aftermath of the chaotic grassroots polls, Musasizi announced his candidacy as part of his broader plan to strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the 2026 general elections.

“I am once again standing for the position of NRM Chairperson for Rubanda District, and by the grace of God, I believe victory is within reach,” Musasizi told party members.

The announcement comes at a time when the NRM is reeling from widespread disputes and complaints about the conduct of the LC1 elections. Musasizi’s decision to contest for a leadership role at the district level is seen by analysts as an attempt to consolidate control and influence as the party prepares for crucial internal and national polls.

He pledged to work with all elected LC1 leaders, regardless of their allegiance during the campaigns, emphasizing inclusivity.

“Those who have been elected will work with me, and together, we will serve all citizens equally, without discrimination,” Musasizi stated.

His announcement adds to the growing list of high-profile figures eyeing key party positions, signaling an intense internal battle in the run-up to the August 2025 NRM primaries and the January 2026 general elections.
