The Kibuku Mothers Union, a Christian organization under the Church of Uganda, on Friday carried out a major community cleanup along the Mbale-Tirinyi Highway and within Kibuku Town Council, drawing praise from local traders and residents.
The sanitation drive, aimed at promoting hygiene and environmental cleanliness, was led by Jane Narapa Wairagala, Chairperson of the Mothers Union in Kibuku Archdeaconry. The initiative brought together local leaders, community members, and religious stakeholders in a show of unity and civic responsibility.
“This exercise is not only about cleanliness but about promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging our people to take responsibility for their environment,” said Wairagala.
The event precedes the upcoming special Mother’s Union Mary Day celebrations, which are expected to be officiated by Uganda’s Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, this weekend.
The Mothers Union, known for its role in promoting Christian family values and strengthening marriages, emphasized the importance of ongoing community involvement in maintaining hygiene standards.
Local traders expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting it improved the appearance and safety of the business environment along the busy highway.
