Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has officially closed the National Dialogue on Health Financing, calling for increased investment and stronger policy implementation to ensure universal health coverage and a resilient healthcare system in Uganda.

Speaking on behalf of President Museveni at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Nabbanja emphasized government commitment to equitable and efficient health financing, urging all stakeholders to work collaboratively to achieve long-term sustainability in the sector.

The three-day dialogue, which began on May 6, 2025, was held under the theme “Sustainable Health Financing Strategies for Universal Health Coverage and Resilient Health Systems in Uganda.” Organized by the Ministry of Health and development partners, the forum brought together health policymakers, development partners, civil society, and private sector representatives to address critical gaps in Uganda’s healthcare financing.

Key issues discussed included inadequate funding, inefficient resource use, and inequalities in access to healthcare services. The dialogue also stressed the need for better value for money and innovative funding mechanisms to reduce out-of-pocket spending by Ugandans.

According to officials, the dialogue aimed to generate actionable policy recommendations that align with Uganda’s broader development goals and its commitment to achieving universal health coverage.

Stakeholders welcomed the platform as a significant step toward reforming Uganda’s health financing architecture and pledged continued collaboration to build a resilient health system that serves all citizens equitably.
