Rajiv Ruparelia Dies in Fiery Car Crash at Busabala Flyover

Rajiv Ruparelia, son of prominent businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, has died in a fatal car crash that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Busabala Flyover in Makindye-Ssabagabo, Wakiso District.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, the accident happened at around 1:54 AM and involved a Nissan GTR with registration number UAT 638L.

The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Kajjansi toward Munyonyo when it hit temporary pavements at the flyover roundabout. The impact caused the car to overturn and catch fire, killing Rajiv instantly.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle after colliding with temporary pavements installed at the roundabout section of the flyover,” said SP Michael Kananura, spokesperson for the Directorate. “The vehicle subsequently overturned and caught fire.”

Police have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash. No further injuries were reported, and updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses.

Rajiv Ruparelia was widely known for his role in managing the Ruparelia Group, a conglomerate with interests in real estate, finance, education, and hospitality.

His untimely death has sparked an outpouring of grief from the public and business community alike.

Authorities extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
