If there is something to admire about celebrated Ugandan artiste Bebe Cool this season, it has to be the remarkable steps he has recently taken in his music career.
This includes the intricate release of the first two singles off his Break the Chains album — Circumference and Motivation. He has made many more strategic moves, such as launching The Motivation Week and hosting a memorable press conference at the end of last year.
Yesterday — Friday, April 25 — during a TikTok Live interaction with some of the leading TikTokers in the country, Bebe Cool revealed that his much-anticipated album, Break the Chains, will officially drop on Friday, May 30, 2025.
The highly anticipated album marks a defining moment in the artist’s evolving sound, blending his signature style with fresh Afrobeats influences and raw storytelling.
The album has been the talk of the town since Bebe Cool first announced it almost two years ago. However, he turned up the heat when he released Circumference, shocking most of his fans, who realized it showcased a completely different sound.
In various interviews, Bebe Cool has revealed that this change of direction is meant to align with current market trends, which are now leaning more toward Afrobeats than any other sound being produced from Africa.
Bebe Cool promised to unpack more about the album in the coming days.
Calling it “a new dawn,” Bebe Cool has broken the mold with this album, working with a different crop of producers and engineers, and tapping into Uganda’s growing Afrobeats sound, collaborating with artists such as Joshua Baraka.
During the TikTok Live, Bebe Cool discussed the changing trends in music and how Uganda has often missed out simply because many of the artists who could push boundaries are either too comfortable or too afraid to venture into the unknown.
With this new album, he says he is sailing into the unknown, with the intention of using his position as an industry leader to motivate and inspire young artists to embark on similar journeys.
“Break the Chains is about cracking the glass ceiling to take Ugandan music to the table most local artists believe we are not welcome at,” he said.
Break the Chains follows the success of Go Mama, which earned Bebe Cool continental nominations, such as the MTV Africa Music Awards, Channel O Awards, and the Kora Awards. One of the singles — Love You Everyday — remains Uganda’s most exported song on Spotify, with more than 5.5 million streams and 14 million views on YouTube.
With this new release, the artist continues to push boundaries while staying true to the emotional core that fans have come to love.
The album will be available on all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and more.
