Richard Todwong, the Secretary-General of NRM, has officially declared the recently concluded exercise of updating the party’s membership register a success nationwide.
The 5-day process, starting on Wednesday, 13th, and concluding on Sunday, 17th, took place in all 72,000 villages/branches.
“I have closely monitored the display and updating of our membership register, and I am pleased to announce that it concluded peacefully, with only a few concerns,” stated Todwong.
Furthermore, Todwong disclosed that the updated ‘Yellow Books’ would undergo a comprehensive review at zonal centers before the data is integrated into the digital database.
Regarding areas with low turnout, Todwong stated, “The party leadership will review the process and provide guidance.”
Addressing students, Todwong assured members, particularly those currently in school, that there would be another opportunity for them to register during the holidays before “we begin preparations for internal elections.”
Todwong expressed gratitude to NRM members and the general public for their active participation, emphasizing that “this demonstrates the enduring popularity of the NRM.”
The launch of the register update was conducted by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM National Chairman and President, on February 28, 2024.
