Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) has announced the intensification of its mobilization campaign for the Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament by-election.
The party’s flag bearer, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, was successfully nominated as a candidate on March 11, 2024, by the District Electoral Commission Registrar in Dokolo Town Council.
The UPC expressed its congratulations to Sarah Aguti Nyangkori for smoothly going through the nomination exercise.
The party also extended its appreciation to Party President Jimmy Akena, Secretary General Fred Ebil, and other party members who supported the nomination process.
Today, the UPC campaign machine, led by Party President Hon. Jimmy Akena, will officially commence campaigns in Amwoma and Dokolo sub-counties.
The campaign program was harmonized by the Independent Electoral Commission on March 13, 2024. The UPC is actively mobilizing support for Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, urging the electorate and the people of Dokolo District to rally behind their candidate. The central message of the campaign focuses on addressing the welfare of the people and transforming their lives and communities.
The UPC emphasized the importance of solidarity, sacrifice, organization, and comradeship among the campaign team and party members. They called for increased commitment and hard work from everyone involved.
Referring to the lessons learned from the Oyam North by-election, the UPC reiterated Party President Hon. Jimmy Akena’s message that they will not accept any plans of vote rigging. The party commits to being on the ground until the last vote is cast, counted, and declared to ensure fair, free, and peaceful elections. All stakeholders in the Dokolo by-election were called upon to fulfill their responsibilities and contribute to the integrity of the electoral process.
In a separate note, the UPC extended Ramadan greetings to the Muslim community, wishing them a holy month. They encouraged people of goodwill to offer support to those observing Ramadan.
