The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda and the non-resident Venezuelan Embassy have affirmed their commitment to maximizing the potential of their bilateral relationship and fostering mutual understanding.
Both parties anticipate positive outcomes from the establishment of the Joint Permanent Commission, which is expected to further cement the ties between Uganda and Venezuela.
The bilateral meeting held on February 29, 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala, between Minister for State for Foreign Affairs, Oryem Henry Okello, and Her Excellency Mrs. Fatima Fernandes Juarez, non-resident Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, marked a significant milestone in enhancing diplomatic relations.
The discussions during the meeting focused on identifying areas of mutual interest such as agriculture, security, culture, tourism, and oil and gas. Both sides underscored the importance of leveraging their strengths for sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
Minister Okello and Ambassador Juarez expressed optimism about the potential for deepening cooperation between their countries and emphasized the value of establishing a Joint Permanent Commission later this year to facilitate regular high-level engagements.
The officials highlighted the significance of robust partnerships in advancing socio-economic development and addressing global challenges through increased collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Uganda and Venezuela. Both parties eagerly await the establishment of the Joint Permanent Commission as a platform for ongoing dialogue, cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects.
