A reward of Shs20 million has been issued by the police for information that leads to the recovery of the pistol used in the shooting of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo and YouTuber Isma Olaxes.
On May 6, 2023, Olaxes was gunned down in Kyanja, and last Tuesday night, Pastor Bujjingo was attacked, killing his bodyguard, Corporal Richard Muhumuza of the Special Forces Command (SFC).
At Buwalakata Road, Namungoona, Lubaga Division, Bujjingo was attacked.
In both cases, which happened at around nine o’clock at night, the perpetrators fled on motorbikes.
The Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, emphasized the similarities between the two events and the usage of the pistol in both.
“The murders of Isma Olaxes and Richard Muhumuza follow remarkably similar patterns,” he remarked.
Muhumuza was wounded by thirteen bullets.
Bujjingo’s car was turned in for ballistic and forensic testing since it had eleven obvious bullet holes in it.
To follow the actions of the attackers, CCTV footage from Salt Media, where Bujjingo left with Muhumuza, as well as security cameras on public roadways and private properties, are being examined.
The police aren’t letting unrelated stories divert them from their investigation; this is evident despite conjecture on social media regarding intentions.
The spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Patrick Onyango, stated that CCTV footage was being gathered to determine the assailants’ actions.
The Special Investigations Division (SID) has been tasked with spearheading the investigation into Bujjingo’s attack by Tom Magambo, the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID).
Beata Chelimo, Senior Commissioner of Police, is in charge of the entire probe. Bugingo’s security has been strengthened by security, who have also sent in military personnel.
