Pastor Aloysius Bugingo

Tuesday night, unidentified assailants opened fire on Pastor Aloysius Bujingo of the House of Prayer Ministries, killing Richard Muhumuza, the pastor’s bodyguard.

The event occurred at approximately 9 p.m. in Kampala at the Bawalakata crossroads in Namungoona, Lubaga Division.

Muhumuza was declared dead in Mulago Hospital, where Pr. Bujingo drove himself.

Since several of the witnesses were in the area of the incident, they recounted what happened.

One of the locals, Joseph Sseku, disclosed that the gunmen, who were on a motorbike, fired more than ten rounds at Bujingo’s car, aiming for the co-driver, as the pastor was nearing Justine Ssendikadiwa road to join Namugoona main road.

Pr. Bujingo was driving the vehicle, with Muhumuza sitting in the co-driver’s seat, according to Sseku.

Additionally, witnesses said that the gunmen shot into the air to frighten away bystanders as they ran towards the Bawalakata road following the event.

Namungoona-Kasubi LCI Executive Committee member Wilson Kato reported hearing noises that sounded like gunshots but mistook them for the sound of a Subaru car’s exhaust pipes.

On the other hand, word reached him that someone had been shot.

A group of plain-clothed intelligence officers briefed Assistant Inspector General of Police Christopher Ddamulira on the incident during his visit to the location on Wednesday.
