Uganda’s National Health Laboratory and Diagnostic Services (NHLDS) have once again achieved ISO 9001:2015 recertification, affirming the organization’s continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and excellence in laboratory services. This significant achievement marks a milestone in Uganda’s unwavering dedication to ensuring top-tier healthcare, research, and various other critical sectors.

The ISO 9001:2015 recertification, awarded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is a globally recognized symbol of quality and management excellence. It serves as an assurance of an organization’s ability to consistently deliver accurate and reliable results while continuously improving its operations.

NHLDS, as a crucial component of Uganda’s healthcare infrastructure, plays a pivotal role in various sectors, including patient diagnostics, research, and disease surveillance. This recertification will reinforce the country’s capability to provide quality testing and analysis services across these fields.

The recertification process involved a comprehensive evaluation of NHLDS’s management systems, quality control processes, and adherence to international standards. It also assessed the competence and training of laboratory staff, the accuracy of testing methods, and the overall infrastructure.

Dr. Susan Nabadda, the Commissioner of the National Health Laboratory and Diagnostic Services (NHLDS), expressed her appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the NHLDS team. “This recertification is a testament to the tireless efforts of our laboratory professionals. They have consistently upheld and improved the quality of services provided,” she emphasized.

This recertification will have a profound and lasting impact on Uganda’s healthcare system, research endeavors, and disease control initiatives. ISO 9001:2015 recertification guarantees the reliability of laboratory results, enhancing patient care, underpinning research outcomes, and reinforcing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.

Uganda is now better positioned to engage in international collaborations and research projects, given that the recertification aligns NHLDS with global standards and expectations. It will also continue to attract international recognition and partnerships, thereby offering new opportunities for research and investments.

As Uganda continues to advance its healthcare and research capabilities, the ISO 9001:2015 recertification of NHLDS underscores the nation’s enduring dedication to quality and accuracy, setting the stage for ongoing progress and breakthroughs in various sectors.
